PDF-XChange Viewer provides a host of useful features to go along with superior functionality in letting you view and mark up PDFs with ease. The software will open PDFs saved on your computer or you can download them directly with the app. Navigating the PDF once its open is straightforward, as well, and there are many navigation and editing tools available on the toolbar across the top of the window.
The interface of this app provides a lot of versatility without over-complicating the layout. Just about every tool you need for marking up and viewing your PDF is displayed at the top of the screen. We were impressed that you can customize this layout to minimize clutter by selecting the tools you do and don't want displayed from the Tools' drop-down menu. Options include comment and mark up tools, link tools, measuring tools, and zoom tools. Navigating the document, itself, is quick and convenient, with multiple options for how pages are displayed and how many are on the screen at a time.
Commenting is supported and easy to insert and you can e-mail a document directly from the app as long as you have a compatible mail program installed, as well. Another convenient feature is the search box at the top of the screen that provides quick access to various online sources such as Wikipedia, Bing, Google, Yahoo, and others. Overall, this is a great product with an intuitive interface and lots of helpful features.

    "It's ok, but who needs the host of additional programs"

    works well and is easy to use
    Cons
    A number of additional programs that infest themselves are installed concurrently without much control by the user.
    Watch for all kinds of little boxes and uncheck them

    The claims it makes keeps you hoping...
    Cons
    Its intermittent hiccups ans hangups has been the worst in my life time using PCs. This is a disgracefully unstable program.
    Summary
    If its behavior doesn't change in upcoming updates I just cleanse my system from its unwelcome agony, and leave this review behind; else, I'll come back and review this view...

    "Free Version: Waste of time"

    Nothing at all
    Cons
    Don't quick the automatic install. Use custom option otherwise you'll install loads of programs and toolbars YOU don't want.
    Program is a waste of time - you only get features you want with the PRO version. Stick with the Free Adobe Reader. You won't be able to edit any PDF with the Trial version.
    Summary
    If you want to edit or do anything more than read a PDF document, don't waste your time with the free / trial version.

    "Does what I need it to for free."

    Has lots of features for a free PDF viewer: Loads fast, opens files in multiple tabs, remembers where you were last time you opened a file, and much more!
    Cons
    It does have an ad in the top corner encouraging you to upgrade to the Pro version, but nothing annoying.
    Summary
    It didn't install anything when I installed it. I think those other people are experiencing user error, not problems with this program.

    I just unchecked the boxes to not install other programs when I installed it, which is the case with about every program these days.

    Also, don't use Cnet's downloader if you don't have to, all it is there for is to display ads and help people with terrible internet get a reliable download.

    "Fast, low-overhead PDF file viewer"

    Free. Takes little RAM to run. Works with Windows 2000 Pro. Opens and closes very quickly. Can upgrade to a paid version for editing PDF files at a very reasonable price.
    Cons
    Have found none so far.
    Summary
    I was looking for a PDF viewer that would run on an older Windows 2000 Pro PC (yes, they still exist out in the wild). The newer Acrobat Reader is a great viewer, and is free, yet the newer versions won't work with Windows 2000 Pro and they take a lot of memory to run. This is an excellent alternative. Might even consider running on some of our older Windows XP dinosaurs.

    "Not much to say if it won't install"

    None - it wouldn't install but did leave several annoying browser add-ons
    Cons
    I couldn't install it. After downloading it and accepting various agreements and unchecking the boxes that let them add toolbars and change my homepage, I clicked on the install button but it died immediately, telling me that it couldn't install on my computer because it wasn't 32-bit (I have Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit on this one). I tried launching the installer from the Downloads folder directly but the result was the same.

    What really annoyed me was that the installer said that nothing was installed, but when I reopened my browser (the installer shut IE and Chrome, both of which were open) it had visibly changed the browser and when I clicked on New Tab it gave me a list of "suggested sites". Looking at Add-ons I found that it had installed and enable 4 add-ons, at least one of which is blatantly ad-ware from prior experience.
    Summary
    This got one star because I couldn't figure out how to give it a minus 10.
